Dear God and Dad

It's Sam again, chiming in.

Anastasia (on left) ever the thoughtful one, came out of her room tonight after being in bed for a while with a note. She wanted to contribute to her mom's blog seeing as Heidi is not feeling up to it these days. After chemo round #2 on Thursday, both our kids sort of knew what to expect, but in reality were quite sobered again at the immediate effects of the drugs on Heidi. Another little memory was made as we shaved her head...transition to bald complete (well more like patchy thinning army buzz stage to be more accurate). I happen to think it's cute.

Here's what Anastasia wrote, short and sweet - it made me cry, not sure if it is fair for me to post, but it was her wish. It's part prayer and part note to me (her dad) - she even has a message for all of you :)

In this I see her mom's strength, resolve and knack for the written word. Perhaps you will too.

Dear God and Dad,

OK well the first week my mom started kemo it was very scary. The very scary part is over now but unforchunitly there's still a bit more to come. Now here's my prayer.

Dear God, I pray that you would heel all this sickniss in mommy and that even though this is hard to go throe God is holding her hand the hole way throe. And i know you are leading all of us who care about her throe, oh one more thing if you can go throe this I can amen.

And all of you that care should be thankful that you guys have such a fantastic friend or relativ of course. But anyways you're lucky just like I am. Love Ana. Mom you are a great mom, even beter than great, you're fantastic.

If you choose to comment, why don't you send Anastasia a note this time round. I know Heidi would be encouraged vicariously.

    Ana, You are right, we are lucky to have your mom (and all of you) as relatives! We are going to keep praying for you all every day and even though it is really hard, like you said, God is holding your hands though it all. Love you a bunch, Auntie Pam

    You are SO right! God is holding her hand, and yours and all of ours! You and Zac are so lucky to have been blessed with such a great Mommy. She must be so proud with those great words you wrote. I think you're a lot like her ;)

    Dear Ana,
    I'm sure that when your mom read your letter the words became printed on her heart. Your love will give her strength. And keep talking to God, He’s listening, even when you don’t know what to say that’s ok, God doesn’t have to hear words, He can read what you are feeling on your face, and He loves all of you… great-aunt Elizabeth

    We too are praying for all of you as you go thru this hard time and we're praying like you that God would heal your mom of her sickness. God has given you a heart of courage and faith and I'm sure you'll be a source of strength and joy to your mom when she's not feeling well.

    Grampa Plett is so proud of your courage and prayer for your beautiful mom who is my brave daughter,wishing i could hold her tight in my arms assuring her how much i love her and that God will never leave her to suffer alone.Ana could you please hug Zah your dad and your grampma and tell them grampa loves them alot.

    Ana, you have the same way with words that your Mom does and you wrote a beautiful letter. (You did make me cry like your Dad though.) I know that you are helping every day and we're praying along with you.

    Ana, I hope you guest blog again soon! We will pray along with you for healing for your mom. And you are right! We are so blessed to have her in our lives. :) You though have an understanding of faith and a love for the Lord that is incredible. Not only are people seeing Jesus through what your mom is going through, but they are seeing Jesus through you. You are a blessing and an encouragement.

    Oh, what a sweet note! I'm amazed at the strength and resiliency in the face of illness. I hope my children will take those lessons with them into adulthood. My prayers with you and your family.
